MISSISSIPPI SPORTS MEDICINE EXPANDS STATEWIDE FOOTPRINT THROUGH NEW PARTNERSHIPS IN OXFORD AND TUPELO

Mississippi-grown orthopedic practices unify under a single trusted brand

Jackson, MS – June 3, 2025 – Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center (MSMOC), a statewide leader in orthopedic care for more than 40 years, announced today that Oxford Ortho & Sports Medicine and the Orthopaedic Institute of North Mississippi (OINMS) will join its growing network under a unified brand beginning August 4.

These partnerships bring together three of Mississippi’s most respected orthopedic groups, creating the largest and most comprehensive network of orthopedic specialists in the state and one of the strongest in the Southeast.

“For four decades, we’ve stayed focused on one thing: serving Mississippians with the highest quality orthopedic and sports medicine care,” said J.R. Woodall, MD, PhD, spine surgeon and partner at MSMOC. “This new chapter allows us to extend that focus across even more communities, with like-minded physicians who share our commitment to excellence, local pride, and putting patients first.”

Together, the combined team will deliver statewide access to fellowship-trained subspecialists across nearly every orthopedic discipline, while preserving the strong community ties and trusted relationships that patients in Oxford and Tupelo have relied on for decades.

“This is personal for me,” said Bryan Fagan, MD, an orthopedic surgeon in Tupelo who completed his sports medicine fellowship training at MSMOC. “I was trained in Jackson and am proud to bring that same standard of care to families in North Mississippi. This partnership is about deepening that connection and continuing to grow orthopedic excellence right here at home.”

Local leadership in Oxford emphasized that while the name is changing, the commitment to Oxford remains unchanged.

“We’re proud of what we’ve built here in Oxford—a practice rooted in clinical excellence and deep ties to our community,” said Daniel Boyd, MD, orthopedic surgeon. “Joining under the Mississippi Sports Medicine name allows us to preserve that legacy while connecting with like-minded colleagues across the state who share our focus on doing what’s best for Mississippians.”

What this means for Mississippi patients:

  • Same trusted doctors, stronger network. Patients will continue seeing the same physicians at the same locations. Those physicians now benefit from deeper collaboration with a statewide team of subspecialty colleagues, helping ensure every patient receives care aligned with the most advanced standards in orthopedics.
  • A team built by and for Mississippians. MSMOC has always believed that the best care comes from providers who are committed to the people and places they serve.
  • More access, more innovation. The expanded network makes it easier for patients across the state to get comprehensive care quickly and conveniently.

Residents will see the Mississippi Sports Medicine name on signage, materials, and communications in Oxford, Tupelo, and across North Mississippi leading up to the launch of the new brand on August 4. To learn more or schedule an appointment, visit mississippisportsmedicine.com.
