What is Telehealth?

Telehealth is the delivery of healthcare over modern communication methods. In the case of OrthoLive, this is done with HIPAA compliant secure video chat.

 

How Common is Telehealth?

In 2013, there were 350,000 visits using Telehealth. In 2018 it is projected that 7 million patients will use Telehealth.

 

HIPAA Compliant?

Yes. OrthoLive uses HIPAA compliant video that is also utilized by other leading Telehealth providers and NASA.

What type of treatment can Mississippi Sports Medicine provide over Telehealth?

Your provider can order testing such as MRI, CT, Electrodiagnostic studies (EMG/NCS) and X-rays. Treatment can order such as injections, physical or hand therapy, prescription medications and bracing.

 

Do I need WiFi?

WiFi is not required but highly recommended. You will need the ability to connect to the internet, so if you do not have WiFi at your location you will need a mobile device with LTE, 4G or 3G service.

 

How much does it cost?

The visit is billed to your insurance and coverage is the same as if you were in the office for an in-person visit.

How to prepare for my Telehealth appointment?

  • Once you schedule your Telehealth appointment with our office, you will get a text and email confirming your appointment. In that text and email you will get a link to download our app and register your account.
  • Please, make sure you have the App Downloaded along with completing your registration prior to your appointment.
  • Our office will call you before your appointment to collect details from you about your visit. Then we will give you the green light to wait in our Virtual Waiting room for the physician, or nurse practitioner.
