DR. PENNY LAWIN AND DR. JAMEY BURROW FEATURED IN NORTHSIDE SUN

Dr. Penny Lawin and Dr. Jamey Burrow, MS Sports Medicine’s foot and ankle sub-specialized surgeons were recently recognized in an exclusive article in The Northside Sun’s Newsworthy section. As leading specialized physicians in their field, they relentlessly learn, develop, fine-tune, and adopt the best clinical and surgical practices for their patients.

Dr. Lawin and Dr. Burrow are Focused on the Newest Techniques

Recent advances in orthopaedic technology have allowed patients with ankle ligament and tendon injuries to return to pre-injury activities much more rapidly. This is accomplished with shorter periods of immobilization and inactivity and allowing for earlier weightbearing resulting in less atrophy of muscles and lower re-injury rates.

As sub-specialists, Dr. Lawin and Dr. Burrow continually bring new techniques to the forefront for patients. They are performing cutting-edge "tightrope" techniques for foot and ankle surgeries to insert an implant "brace" for unstable high ankle sprains. This technique does not require implant removal, supports weightbearing and accelerates rehabilitation efforts sooner after surgery allowing normal function and movement of the connective tissue of the joints.

For those with persistent bunions, Drs. Lawin and Burrow are performing the newest technique called Lapiplasty, a 3D approach to fixing your foot's foundation. This procedure is the latest approach to traditional bunionectomy and focuses on correcting the root cause of bunions, the bone misalignment. There are dramatic results for patients with the Lapiplasty procedure, mainly the timeframe for patients to bear weight on the foot after surgery is noticeably reduced.
